Pea soup has a very long history, as this legume, which is cultivated since ancient times. Even in the middle of the first century BC on the Athens streets were selling hot pea soup. This flavorful dish already enjoyed immense popularity.

Ingredients for soup:

Dry peas are a 250 g
Smoked pork loin 150 g
Onion 1 pc.
1 garlic clove
Carrot 1 pieces.
Potatoes 4 pcs.
Bay leaf 1 pc.
Allspice 5 pcs.
Ground black pepper 1 pinch
Salt to taste
1 bunch fresh dill


To prepare the soup, you need: peas, smoked pork loin, onion, carrots, garlic, potatoes, spices, and herbs.

Sort and wash the peas, peel onions and garlic.

Put peas, onion, garlic, allspice in a  pot with  and cover with cold water. Cook the peas for about two hours.

Peel potatoes and cut into cubes. Peel carrots and cut into strips. Add the potatoes and carrots in the broth. Before this, remove the onion – it is no longer necessary. Also add the bay leaf, salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 15-20 minutes. Bay leaf it is necessary to remove after cooking soup.

Take smoked pork loin and cut into stripes.

Fry meat in olive oil until golden brown and send it to the broth. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

Prepare white bread croutons.
